History

This one won't be a thesis or anything. Actually, I probably will be able to chat about this subject quickly and send you on your way. Hoohaa started a long time ago. It wasn't me that invented it by any means. Actually the first time I ever heard the word was during softball. A team at that time, Anderson's, used it on occasion. I heard other teams also use it. Seemed somewhat interesting.
So, our team started
using it. Why the hell not? We were not good, and it sounded almost like a word
for us to use. So, we did. In fact, I ran some tournament teams and we used "The
Hoo Haa's" as our team name. Not a great overall record at tournaments, but we
did finish fourth one year at a Sidney (N.Y.) tournament. That was pretty wild
and if I am not mistaken, was our last hurrah as the Hoo Haa's. The word did
stay with the team for several years. As we went from "Hawley's" to the "Shire
Pub," the word was somewhat of a battle cry.
Moving on...

For several years, I had Hoo Haa on my license plate. I have one of them still and when I get a picture of it, I will add it to this part of the site. I retired those plates when I smacked up my Olds. During the past couple of seasons, Hoo Haa has gone away from our team. Not that it's done on purpose, but it is more of a war cry for a non contender. Almost like a battle cry to overcome odds and all. It ran it's course with our team and has moved on to another. It seems like a battle cry that will never die.
It will live on with me through this website though! Speaking of the website, I started this in 1998 and never did a lot with it. I started with a site on my web provider's server and then decided I wanted my own domain. Finding hoohaa still available, I went with it.
Since...

It's funny, because since 1998, several people have contacted me about selling the site. I always say give me an offer I can't refuse and it's never come. Ah well, it's better that way. I am attached to it. Now, after owning it forever, I'm finally going to use the site. It's personal for sure, but with the blogs and forum and photos, I look to make the site a little more interactive and hopefully have a strong group of friends, family and others who visit the site.
In a nutshell, that's the history of HooHaa as I know it. There might be more to it, but that's the meaning in my eyes.

Earlier this year, I received an offer from
someone in Australia to buy the domain. Unfortunately, my computer needed to
be reformatted and I lost the e-mails. However, the quick version: I was
offered $7,000 but turned it down because I wasn't sure how legit and really
didn't want to deal with all the taxes and such on it. Add to it that I'm
really attached to my site, too..
I used to have a Wall of Fame on the site, but
likely won't have it return as it was hard to keep up with and also tough to
make work with the rest of the site. I'm keeping the list, however, and you
never know - it might return!
