This site has long been my personal website.
I never did much with it, but have recently started working on getting
all of my sites looking better. Have a look around here, check out the
photos, the blogs and the forum. Most of all, enjoy and have fun. That's
what I'd like it to all be about.
About P.J.:
A resident of upstate New York, I am a sports
writer with a local daily newspaper, covering high school football,
wrestling, softball and a minor league baseball team. I also enjoy
photography, surfing the net, working with my websites/blogs and other
things. Photography has become a passion of mine once again and I have
really enjoyed shooting everything from sports to friends to nature to
travel. As far as the future, who knows. The past year (2007) has been
rough and I know when all said and done, I'm ready for a change of
scenery eventually and likely in 2008, one way or another.
Professionally, I'm at a crossroads and need to make some important
decisions about where I see myself in the next several years.
About Delhi:
Delhi, N.Y. is a small
rural town in central N.Y. It's not upstate fully, but it's not the
city. The County seat of Delaware County, Delhi hosts the State
University of New York at Delhi, the County office building, the County
Sheriff's office as well as the new and expensive jail.
Also in the village is Delaware Academy and Central School, a medium-size public high school. In 2001, the school claimed the New York State Class C Football Championship. The Bulldogs are perennial powers in most sports and do well in league and sectional action.
According to the 2000 Census, the Town of Delhi had 4,629 people. The Village of Delhi had 2,583.
Delhi has two stop lights. Well, three if you consider the one at the high school that's nothing more than a blinking caution light. So we'll say two. We currently have two grocery stores, four gas stations, three pizza places, a diner and a McDonalds. There is a bagel shop, a dollar store, a Chinese restaurant, one drug store, a couple of hardware stores, several interesting places to eat and a local weekly newspaper.
SUNY Delhi is mainly a two-year institution, with a handful of Bachelor degree programs. Delhi owns its own golf course and golf course management is one of Delhi's best programs. Athletic wise, Delhi is perennially one of the best in the nation in cross country, track and indoor track. They have several National Championships in cross country and also have one each in indoor and outdoor. Men's basketball, which is often a power in the national scene, has had a couple of rough seasons and are trying to get back to the normal level.
Delhi also has some great history. There is a covered bridge - one of only 20+ in the state. The Frisbee House on Route 10 toward Stamford is a great historical site. The square in the center of the Village also has history. To get some of Delhi's history, you may want to pick up Ruts in the Road, a series of local books by John Raitt.
Notes:
If there is anything else I feel I need to add about me, the site or where I am in the world at any given time, I'll update this page. If not, this is pretty much me in a nutshell.

Located in Delhi, New York. Former satellite
offices included: Lock Haven, Pennsylvania and Hamden, Connecticut. Bureaus
are all over the place, thankfully.
